Philosophy on Music education
In the United States of America, there is large amounts of speculation regarding music’s place in elementary and secondary schools. I believe that children of any background can benefit with an education in music. Students taking music can build a background through singing, performing on instruments, improvising, composing and arranging, analyzing music, learning of its history, evaluating music and reading and notating music. With good direction from an instructor, students can be knowledgeable on the subject of music. Music of our own culture needs to be understood first before exploring the music of others. Before music literacy can successfully achieved, the student must have some musical experiences. Music can have a positive force on an otherwise negative life.
